Sugaring removes hair in the natural direction of growth, which makes you far less likely to experience ingrown hairs compared to waxing or shaving.
Because we remove the hair properly from the root — with no breakage — the follicle is cleared correctly.
However, dry skin, friction, tight clothing or a lack of exfoliation at home can still contribute to clogged follicles.
When sugaring is done the Candyfloss way & maintained properly, ingrowns are not the norm — smooth, clear skin is.
All hair removal involves removing hair from the root.
However, most clients agree sugaring feels significantly less painful than waxing.
- The sugar is not hot
- It does not stick to live skin
- No skin lifting
- Hair is removed in its natural direction
With consistency, hair grows back finer & softer.
Less pain, more glow.
Wax removes hair against the direction of growth, which can cause breakage, ingrowns & trauma.
Wax is hot & can cause burns. It often requires chemical removers to clean residue.
Sugaring:
- Is body temperature
- Adheres only to dead skin
- Removes hair in its natural direction
- Requires only warm water for removal
- No breakage
- No ingrowns
- Less pain
We don’t rip & run. We flick & love.
Every flick is intentional, precise & skin-respecting — leaving your skin calm, smooth & beautifully cared for.
No burns.
No trauma.
No compromise.
That’s the sweet standard.
To help us achieve the best possible results:
* Shower before your appointment
* Gently exfoliating 48 hours prior can be beneficial, but it is not compulsory
* Skin must be clean & dry
* No lotions, oils or deodorant
* Avoid sunburn & self-tanner
* Discontinue drying topical medications 4–7 days prior (Retin-A, Differin, Benzoyl Peroxide, Glycolic Acid, etc.)
Hair should ideally be about the length of a grain of rice. Slightly shorter may still work — but not significantly shorter.
Unsure? Message us.
For the first 48 hours:
- Avoid heavy sweating or workouts
- Avoid deodorant
- Avoid tanning
- Avoid hot baths or steam rooms
- Avoid sexual activity
- Avoid touching the area with unwashed hands
- Avoid tight clothing
- Keep the area clean & dry
- Wear loose, breathable clothing
After 48 hours:
Begin gentle exfoliation & moisturise daily. Protect the glow. Keep it sweet!
If you skip exfoliation, dead skin cells can build up over the follicle.
This can trap new hair growth beneath the surface & increase the risk of ingrown hairs.
Sugaring removes hair beautifully — but exfoliation keeps the pathway clear.
No exfoliation = higher chance of clogging.
Dry skin becomes tight & rigid.
When new hair tries to grow through dry skin, it may struggle to break through properly, increasing the chance of ingrowns or irritation.
Moisturised skin is flexible, soft & healthy.
Hydrated skin = smoother regrowth.
Heavy creams, oils & pore-clogging products can block the follicle opening.
This can trap hair under the skin & increase the risk of bumps, irritation or pigmentation.
Using non-comedogenic, pore-friendly products helps maintain smooth results & protect your skin barrier.
And the good news?
We have irresistible pore-friendly products you’ll love — specially formulated to complement your sugaring results & keep your skin clear, soft & glowing.
For best results, we recommend booking your appointments every 3–4 weeks.
This allows us to catch the hair in the correct growth phase. Hair grows in three different phases, and staying consistent helps us remove more hair at the ideal stage for smoother, longer-lasting results.
When appointments are spaced too far apart, the growth cycle resets, which can slow down your overall transformation.
Consistency creates finer regrowth, less density & beautifully maintained skin.
Stay on schedule. Stay sweet.

Many clients with sensitive or reactive skin — including those managing eczema or lupus — have found sugaring to be far more comfortable than waxing or shaving.
Sugaring is not a medical treatment, but removing harsh hair removal methods can significantly improve overall skin comfort.
Gentle. Clean. Sweet.
Shaving cuts hair at the surface.
It often causes razor bumps, irritation, ingrowns & over time can contribute to pigmentation due to friction & inflammation.
Sugaring removes hair from the root & encourages finer, slower regrowth.
Less maintenance. More glow.
Laser hair removal can be effective for certain hair & skin types, particularly when there is strong contrast between dark hair & lighter skin.
However, not everyone is an ideal candidate. Results vary depending on hormones, hair type, skin tone & consistency of sessions.
Laser requires multiple treatments, can be costly over time & may not produce permanent results for everyone. In some cases — especially if performed incorrectly or on unsuitable candidates — it can lead to burns, pigmentation changes or uneven regrowth.
Sugaring does not rely on pigment or hair color.
It is suitable for all skin tones & most hair types.
There is no risk of burns from heat or light-based technology.
Sugaring removes hair safely from the root & over time encourages finer, softer regrowth.
